Home and Hosed

When i see these pictures it makes me feel like we could move in right now... thats if we are happy with no walls, kitchen, bathroom etc etc. We are so so happy though as the house is almost at 'lock up' stage which means that its just the inside to go :) I say 'just the inside to go' as if it will take no time at all.. we are talking 2 to 3 months here people.

So enjoy these pics as there will be more to come very soon of the interior or as i like to think of it, the heart of the home (i know... cheese ball).

2nd pic is the non garage side and 3rd pic is the backside of the house. Pretty thing isn't it :) This week our electrical stuff will start plus air con. Ooooh.

Speak soon... don't be scared to leave a comment now,  you know you want to :)

Bricking is done... kinda.

Top level is done everyone :) We look like we're really cooking with gas now thanks to our scaffolding. The feature brick will be finished very soon.. we couldn't show you when its only half finished now could we.

Don't you just love our swampy mote around the house :) I am loving the colour that we chose, like i said, you hold your breath until you see it go up. Phew! Once they have finished the feature brick, they will return to clean the bricks :) this will be exciting as we will be able to see them in all their glory, not a muddy mess.

I shall return very soon with a picture of the completed bricks :) chocolatey feature brick included.

Let The Bricking Begin!!!!

Hi everyone. We are a little behind on our blogs but I'm sure you will forgive us. I was struck down with a terrible illness called the flu and we have been ever so busy (blah blah blah). The bricks are being laid and it is looking fabulous. Back when you choose your bricks you have to feel confident with your choice as you wont know what it looks like until this point. We are still holding our breaths as the feature brick is yet to be laid. You can see the lovely chocolatey brown feature bricks hiding in front of the house here. We can't wait to see what it all looks like together.

They have nearly finished the lower level bricks which means that soon there will be a whole lot of scaffolding surrounding our house, this will be here till the roof is put on :) good times.

We will speak soon i promise.. we are back and raring to blog.

Our Bricks Have Arrived!!!

Now we are getting serious people :) get ready to see this frame become a little more dressed up. We had our bricks delivered and they are raring to go tomorrow.

The lighter bricks in the lower picture will cover the majority of the house and the chocolate brown ones at the top are for our feature at the front of the house :) We are told that it will take up to two weeks to totally brick the whole house and we can't wait till it is done. Seeing the bricks on the house will be so exciting. Everything is going so quickly.. oh my! All this does is remind me of all the things we are yet to buy for the house.

We will grace you with some photos of our fancy bricked house very soon so keep reading people.

The Beast.. In all its beauty

May we introduce you to the Fernhill.. Our humble abode in all its bare boned glory. Now, finally, you can see the actual size of the house. It is rather exciting when you drive up to check your house out and you can see the whole thing staring down at you... literally staring down as our land slopes up quite a bit.

If you are lucky we might sneak in tomorrow and snap a few shots of the inside. The builders have a ladder in our 'staircase' at the moment so that they can get their hammer swinging selves up to the second story. You can imagine that while there are no builders around it is quite tempting to take a sneaky climb up said ladder and have a peek around.... yes that was Blakey and i last night. Guilty. Well worth it though as it looks marvelous :)

Thats all for now. I will continue to embarrassingly stare at these photos. Cant wait to take you on a photo tour of the inside :)

Its Finally a House

OMG everybody. Isn't this so very exciting. Finally we can introduce you to our house. Lets call this the shell of the home shall we? That sounds nice. We were told that the bottom story frames would go up on Thursday. As usual we were dying to see what had happened that day, so after finishing work at 9pm, we drove our impatient selves to the lot to find this little gem awaiting our presence :)

We did extremely well in squeezing our extremities through the small hole in our gate as it is locked up now.. but who could possibly sit and stare at it from behind the mesh? Not us, we had to get our tootsies into every 'room' in that house. I will tell you people that this was a beautiful feeling. Walking through the beginning of a house that you know will be the centre of your life for many years to come. I know, i know, grab the tissues or a bucket.

The top picture clearly shows the front of the house. You can see the porch and front windows (this will be our massive home theatre room, much to Blake's excitement.. what word describes a feeling greater than excitement? cause that what he is feeling). The large section at the front is our garage/gym. you can see what i was talking about here with the 3m from floor to ceiling.. woah mamma.

Our lovely site manager has informed us that the 2nd story will go up tomorrow (Monday) which is crazy. When things get rolling they really get rolling.

I will stop rambling on. Bye for now people... we will see you upstairs :)

P.s Please comment people. I would love to hear from you :)

We've Been Framed

Hi everybody. I hope you're all well. Things are moving along at a very rapid pace right now which is great. What you are looking at here is the jigsaw puzzle that is our house frame. The frame right at the front there is our back stacker door :) beautiful isn't it.

I must admit that when one looks at this photo it does look like the builders have just dumped the frames and ran but i assure you that they are all in one piece.

So brace yourselves people as when you next view this blog, things will look mighty different and we cannot wait.

I am hoping to do a blog post on something design/decoration related in the next few days. I picked up a lovely photo frame from an op shop which i am very excited to share with you. I am very proud of my bargain hunting self.

Anyhoo, enough for now. Get ready cause things are about to get heavy.. literally.

The Storm Before The Calm!

Hey House Followers!!!

So i know what your thinking... What the hell happened? Its ok, i can explain :) basically what they have done here is completed the first stage in our house build. So lets celebrate people *party blowers*. What you are seeing here is all of our external plumbing. All of our water is now connected. This part does look rather messy. I found this out the hard way.. my orange Nike runners are now orange with a thick cakey brown rim around the bottom. Lovely. Gum boots it is next time.

We are hoping that our frame work will be delivered this week and that it should all start next week. The thought of seeing our framework go up makes us extremely excited. I can't wait to be able to walk through the house and get a true feel for each room, this is all happening so quickly. I can't quite take it :)

Thats all for now people. Keep a look out as i will be posting about some great op shop finds i picked up for the house. Im deciding to throw a little decoration into the bloggy mix.

p.s i am being bugged by blogger number 2 (Blakey) as I'm typing this while being sucked into watching the Queens Jubilee concert. I started this off about an hour ago. My bad.

The slab is aliiive!!!

Hi everybody. Its finally here! The bottom of our house is done. Once again, as this progresses you can see the different sections of the house. Can you see our alfresco area clearly now in the second picture? The first shot shows the garage but you can also see our front porch as well :)

We spent a little time out there today watching it all happen and let me tell you i am so amazed at how they do this stuff. It is way more technical than just pouring that concrete right on in there.

I believe we may have to wait about 10 days till they can build on it so get ready to see some frame work happening soon people :)

Blake and i are heading out to a home expo this weekend so we may have some photos etc to show y'all. Should be fun.

Bye for now house followers.

Pour that slab!!!!!!

Hi my fellow house followers. That was a mouthful. These beautiful pictures that you are seeing here are the last before our concrete is poured :) we are assured that this will happen tomorrow. If it rains i will probably cry or at least be a little disheartened (this is Sarz, not Blakey... just to protect his manly- ness).

You can now see specific parts of the house. If you look at the third picture, that square section on the right (back of the house) is our alfresco area :) pretty.

In the first picture, the large section that is much lower than the rest is our garage. The drop down from the house is huge so there will be stairs in the corner from the hallway. I think it is 3m from floor to ceiling here. This is going to be our gym so plenty of room to jump high and pump some iron or just hide from Blake and pretend that I'm working out.

We can't wait to go out tomorrow and see the slab. You know what comes next people... Frames and windows and other exciting buildy things.

Bye for now. Try to get a little sleep, i know your all so excited.

Something in the pipeline :)

Hi all. Here we are again showing you more pictures of dirt, however this post will include pictures of dirt with pipes everywhere... much more exciting. This has been very fun as you can see where things will be like our kitchen sink and down stairs bathroom. I believe that they have to lay this metal stuff and the foam stuff you see in the background before they can pour the slab. We have learnt that you must know your house plans back to front as you want to be sure everything is exactly where it is suppose to be. This is not because we don't trust the builders etc but simply because we have heard some interesting stories of pipes ending up in hall ways.... could make for an interesting decorative highlight but i don't think so.

Thats all for now. We are thinking of doing a few Vlogs which could be fun so keep a look out.

Ready..Slab.. Go!!!

This is a really exciting part. The next thing that will happen is our concrete slab. The wood that you can see is the outline of our house. Its rather confusing seeing your house in this way as i can't get over how small it looks.. I am guaranteed that when wood and gyprock appear it will start to feel like its regular size. Oh how our eyes play tricks on us. Lets pray for continuous sunny days like this one for our builders. Rain rain go away.

A Fence

Just in case you didn't already figure it out from the huge green sign, we are building with Clarendon Homes. It sounds silly but this big fence is making this all seem very real now. Finally you can see it happening and our excitment is just a tad evident through our late night trips out to the dirt... embarrassing but true. We are hoping this coming week brings some concrete along :) then we are really cooking with gas.

Let The Digging Begin!!

We were woken quite early by Blake's sister who lives around the corner from our block to very excitedly tell us that there were a bunch of trucks on our land. They were digging :)

We are relieved that this day has come as time now should hopefully fly and before we know it we will have bricks and wood and all sorts of other exciting bits and pieces going on.

Our Land :)

1/12/2011

We knew nothing about how hard we would have to fight and how long it would take us to get this piece of grass, but what a beautiful piece of grass it is.

521sqm
17m wide, 30m deep

The long wait begins till we see some of that grass being moved.
